Tech Park Basel

A connected digital platform for an innovation community

pharos Web case study

One digital foundation for the park, its companies and its people

Tech Park Basel uses pharos Web to connect its public presence, protected community information, operational services and onsite communication.

The implementation combines reusable pharos Web modules with information models and workflows tailored to the park. Companies, employees, visitors and the Tech Park Basel team receive the right experience while structured content and services remain connected behind the scenes.

A platform shaped around a diverse community

A technology park serves public visitors, resident companies, employees, partners and internal teams. The digital solution therefore has to combine open information with protected content and operational services.

Tech Park Basel needed a coherent foundation for several connected experiences:

  • A public website presenting the park, companies, news, events and services
  • A protected intranet for community information, documents and personal services
  • Operational workflows for bookings, service and issue tickets, marketplace activity and communication
  • Onsite touch displays that reuse current content and hand information to mobile devices

pharos Web provides this shared foundation without forcing every audience into the same interface.

The connected solution

Four experiences, one maintained platform

Each channel has its own purpose while content, identities and services remain connected.

01

Public website

Introduces Tech Park Basel, its companies, news, events, spaces and services.

02

Protected intranet

Provides community-specific information, documents, profiles and internal services.

03

Community workflows

Connects bookings, service and issue tickets, marketplace, notifications, news and events.

04

Onsite displays

Bring current information into shared spaces and continue selected journeys on mobile.

Services used across the community

pharos Web combines structured information with the workflows people need in their everyday relationship with the park.

Companies and people

Directories connect organizations, employees, profiles, roles, locations and responsibilities.

Documents and media

Protected libraries organize files by audience, topic and service, supported by filters and search.

News and events

Public and community information can be managed in the same content foundation.

Service & issue ticketing

Operational requests become structured service workflows instead of disconnected messages; these are not event-admission tickets.

Marketplace and knowledge

Members can exchange offers, needs and useful information within the community.

Email and push notifications

Targeted updates connect relevant content and service events with the people who need them.

A central operational workflow

Bookings for 17 rooms and resources

Bookings are a particularly important part of the Tech Park Basel solution because shared spaces and resources are part of daily community operations.

Members can find and book available rooms and resources within the same environment as their profiles, documents, news and services. Daily, monthly and personal-agenda views support different planning needs, while notifications keep the service connected to the wider platform.

The booking model is implemented as part of pharos Web, so it can evolve with additional rules, integrations or onsite interactions when requirements change.

Shared content, appropriate interfaces

Information moves through the platform instead of being copied between channels

Company profiles, people, events, services and selected media can be structured once and delivered to the public website, protected intranet, mobile experience or displays according to context and permissions.

This does not make every channel look the same. It gives each channel reliable data and lets the interface serve its audience.

  1. 1. Manage
Editors maintain structured information and services.
  2. 2. Target
Permissions, audiences and channel rules determine what is available.
  3. 3. Deliver
Website, intranet, PWA, notifications and displays use the relevant content.
  4. 4. Continue
QR handoff and personal services connect onsite and mobile journeys.

Hosted and maintained in Switzerland

The production platform is hosted by Cyon in Switzerland through a hosting account owned by Tech Park Basel.

  • appamics provides the pharos Web implementation, maintenance, security updates and continued development.
  • Email and push notifications remain part of the connected platform operation.
  • The current Tech Park Basel experience is English; pharos Web supports multilingual implementations for future requirements and other parks.
  • Accessibility is considered in design and development.
  • The appamics implementation is designed for Swiss and European data-protection requirements; the responsibilities of connected third-party services are assessed separately.

For other technology parks

Reuse the platform, configure the solution

Tech Park Basel demonstrates the breadth possible with pharos Web. Another park can begin with a focused portal, bookings, documents or company directory and add connected modules over time.

The marketplace foundation is available immediately. Multilingual content, integrations, payments, advanced search, AI-assisted workflows, QR-based bookings and payments, asset QR codes for documentation or issue reporting, and optional meeting-room displays can be scoped as extensions. Where relevant, pharos IoT can also add Bluetooth beacon interactions with mobile apps.
