We are offering a special pharos app for Google’s Android L preview. It explores using a compatible Android device as an iBeacon transmitter, rather than only detecting nearby beacons.
Beacon broadcasting uses Bluetooth Low Energy advertising. A compatible device can transmit a beacon signal that nearby applications can detect, making it possible to explore the transmitting side of a pharos installation.
This is a preview release, not a promise that every Android device supports beacon transmission. Availability depends on the device’s Bluetooth hardware and software support for advertising.
